Reflections 1 qu. 3

3. Find out more about current College efforts to contribute towards sustainable development. Suggest one or two ways in which you as students can contribute towards this effort too.
National Junior College has constantly been ardently supporting energy conservation and many other key environmental issues. For example, the school has been trying to engage every student and raising their awareness in the environment by organising exciting House competitions, games and exhibitions. Also, students have the opportunity to attend workshops about sustainability from prestigious organisations such as the WWF to learn more about the environmental problems the Earth is facing and what they can do on their part to help save the environment. The school also has its very own Greenlink Club, dedicated to trying to solve the worrisome environmental issues. They have been constantly in liase with external environmental conservation groups for environmental projects such as the Singapore Environmental Council over the years. For the school's efforts and continued dedication in environmental issues, National Junior College was awarded the Schools Green Audit Lotus Award in 2005, the highest environmental award attainable to schools. As students on the individual level, we can all do our part to help the Earth by switching off classroom lights and fans whenever we leave the classroom, taking public transport or carpooling to school instead of individual car rides and telling our friends to raise awareness for environmental issues to spread the love for the Earth.
